Q. Is it true that VMWare vSphere supports eight-way SMP?

A. Yes, but only for the Enterprise Plus license version. This version adds the ability for eight logical processors to be seen inside a single virtual machine. All other versions of vSphere are restricted to the same four-way SMP as previous versions of ESX.
