Q. Can I redistribute VMware Player?

A. In my last question, I pointed you toward VMware's license for using its free VMware Player software. While freely downloadable from vmware.com, this software isn't completely free—you can't just use it for any use.

You can't redistribute VMware Player without express permission directly from VMware. VMware intends you to use Player for your own personal, non-commercial uses only. You can request redistribution rights by contacting VMware directly.

VMware makes this request easy using an online form. Even after submitting the form, you're not permitted to redistribute the software until you receive a countersigned copy of the VMware Distribution Agreement. The company also requires you to submit one copy of your publication upon circulation.
