Deleting VMs doesn't delete the virtual hard disks.

A: You did nothing wrong: This behavior is by design. When you delete a virtual machine (VM) using Hyper-V Manager it removes the configuration files but doesn’t delete the associated virtual hard disks (AVHDs). You need to manually delete any VHD and AVHD files associated with the VM.
