Microsoft will ship SQL Server 7.0 Beta 2--code-named "Sphinx"--to testersthis week. Sphinx will be included in the next version of BackOffice (4.5),which is due in mid-1998. The product improves SQL Server's scalabilityand manageability while adding clustering support.

SQL Server 7.0 will also ship in a desktop version aimed at mobile Windows95/98 users. This small-footprint version will be identical to the WindowsNT version
