You can be one of 10 lucky Windows Insiders to win a two day trip to Microsoft’s Redmond campus and get a peek behind the curtain, just like Dorothy did in the Wizard of Oz, and see who pulls the levers of the Windows development process.

Microsoft just announced the details of this contest on the Insider Hub app on the Windows 10 Technical Preview and it looks like a great prize package.

Some of the things these lucky Windows Insiders will get to do while they are in town include:

- Meet with senior Windows leaders

- Get an up-close look at the Windows design process

- Tour our hardware design labs

- Hear about the evolution of Windows from Microsoft veterans

- Check out prototypes not yet seen by the public

The prize package includes all of the individuals travel expenses such as flights, meals, accommodations and some other activities they apparently have in store for the privileged Windows Insiders who win this contest.

You can get started at the registration page they have setup. When you get there be prepared to submit a short video of yourself telling Microsoft what you like about the Windows 10 Technical Preview and the Windows Insider Program.

According to Microsoft, the video should be between one and three minutes, may include a transcript and must be in English as the event will be held in English.

Initially 500 videos will be selected as finalists and then 10 winners will be selected from that pool to win the trip which is scheduled for 23/24 April 2015.

The due date for your video is 24 March 2015 and winners will be notified/announced by the end of March.

Of course there is small print involved for the lawyers:

*NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open to Microsoft Insiders 18 years or older who are not residents of Cuba, Burma/Myanmar, Iran, North Korea, Sudan or Syria and who did not purchase any equipment for purposes of entering the Contest. Enter Contest by: 3/24/15. To enter and for Official Rules, including prize descriptions, visit https://microsoft.promo.eprize.com/insiderscontest/. 10 grand prizes (approximate retail value $6,500 USD) available to be won. Void where prohibited.

So any plans to enter fellow Insiders?

But, wait...there's probably more so be sure to follow me on Twitter and Google+.

My first website – AnotherWin95.com – came online in 1995. Back then I used GeoCities Web Hosting for it and WindowsObserver.com is the result of the work I have done on that site since 1995.

In January 2010 my community contributions were recognized by Microsoft when I received my first Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award for the Windows Operating System. Since then I have been renewed as a Microsoft MVP each subsequent year since that initial award. I am also a member of the inaugural group of Windows Insider MVPs which began in 2016.
