After removing TCP/IP and restarting your server, you receive the following error during a resinstall of TCP/IP:

Error 2 Loading Registry Information

This error is generally the result of an orphaned network adapter registry key.

To fix the problem:

1. Use Regedt32 to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/NetworkCards

2. Locate the orphaned key, a numbered subkey, by comparing it with the other subkeys. The orphan will be missing some or all of the registry value names.

3. Deleted the orphaned key.

4. Restart your server.

5. Resinstall your latest service pack and restart your server.

TCP/IP should now operate properly.
