The Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter is a popular Microsoft tool, allowing customers that use VMware to convert virtual machines and disks Hyper-V hosts and Microsoft Azure.
Version 3.0 has just been released and now adds the ability to convert physical machines to VMs running on Hyper-V hosts.
It supports:
Windows Server – 2008 or above
Windows Client – Vista or above
The updated version is here: Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter 3.0
Microsoft has been steadily improving MVMC, so much so, that in April of this year, when version 2.0 released, a Microsoft partner decided to drop their own solution. The partner, Xtreme, had developed its solution due to missing pieces in MVMC that customers were requesting. With version 3.0 released, Microsoft is intent on delivering a tool that can easily migrate on-premises workloads to the Cloud.
