A. Vista no longer has the Windows File Protection component that’s part of Windows XP and Windows 2000. In those OSs, this component protects key OS files. Vista has Windows Resource Protection (WRP), which, in addition to protecting key OS files, protects key areas of the registry. Files that are necessary to start Vista are stored in the %windir%winsxsBackup folder
