Netscape Communications has opened a new Web site, Mozilla.org, to "promote, foster, and guide open dialog and development of Netscape's client source code." This new site will be the central resource center fordevelopers wishing to use the source code to the next version of NetscapeNavigator/Communicator, which the company will be giving away for free.
"This is kind of the next shoe falling," said "Netscape fellow" Tom Paquin."In order to cultivate the community of free software development, developers need a central place to have their discussions, to debate how things should go. Simultaneously, the community needs steering, guidance, and more importantly, coordination. Mozilla.org is a place for those thingsto happen."
The first beta release of the Navigator 5.0 source code is due on March 31
