Microsoft Corporation announced today that it has purchased LinkExchange, aleading provider of online marketing services on the Web. LinkExchange willbe wrapped into MSN, where it will be used to delivers services that helpWeb sites promote themselves and use electronic commerce to expand theirrevenues.

"MSN is committed to being an important ally for every small business online, and with this acquisition MSN can bring small-business customers excellent online marketing tools," said Laura Jennings, the MSN VP. "We arealso able to expand the MSN network to include the hundreds of thousands ofhigh-quality smaller sites in the LinkExchange network, which represent theheart of the Web."
