After you deploy a Windows XP operating system image to a computer, it is slow to start, taking up to 10 minutes for the logon screen to appear.

This behavior is symptomatic of a corrupted file in the %SystemRoot%Prefetch folder.

To workaround this behavior, delete the contents of the %SystemRoot%Prefetch folder and restart Windows XP.

If this behavior occurs every time that you deploy the image, delete the contents of the %SystemRoot%Prefetch folder and create a new image.
