Interim Windows NT 5.0 release sent to testers

According to a report by PC Week, Microsoft has sent an interim release ofWindows NT 5.0 to testers--it will be providing the same build to attendeesat this week's Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) as well.Build 1773 of Windows NT 5.0 follows the Beta 1 release by over six months;Microsoft had expected to deliver a true Beta 2 by this time, but the codewasn't in good enough shape for such a milestone. Microsoft is expected torelease a true Beta 2 in June with the final release in early 1999.

The interim build of Windows NT 5.0 includes new features such as IntelliMirror, as well as numerous enhancements to Active Directory, theuser interface, and the security subsystem
