Microsoft Corporation's Exchange Server spanked Lotus Notes for the secondstraight quarter, outselling its arch-rival by 500,000 seats. According toElectronic Mail and Messaging Systems, Exchange Server gained 3.6 millionnew seats this quarter while Lotus sold 3.1 million new Notes licenses. Inthe previous quarter, which was the first time Exchange outsold Notes,Microsoft sold 350,000 more new seats than Lotus. In a related development,a survey of Fortune 50 companies reveals that Exchange Server is now usedas the single standardized Email system by 52% of those surveyed, whileNotes is used exclusively at only 24% of those companies
