At his Windows Solution keynote address in Tokyo yesterday, Bill Gatespredicted that Windows NT would achieve complete dominance over UNIX. "PCs are now invading the Unix [workstation] space," he said. "Up on the server level, the same thing will be taking place over the next several years." The only problem facing NT, according to Gates, is it's scalability, orability to run on a variety of (multi-processor) systems. Gates claimsthat "Wolfpack", a clustering technology that is now testing, will finallyallow NT to achieve UNIX-level scalability."We're going to show that with off-the-shelf PC server technology [and] with Windows NT, managing many, many terabytes of data is not only inexpensive, but easy to set up," Gates said
