RapidStream announced a new line of high-performance security appliances that it has built around Check Point Software Technologies' Check Point VPN-1 and Check Point Firewall software. Check Point has awarded RapidStream's appliances its "Secured by Check Point" certification. Asheem Chandna, vice president of business development and product management at Check Point, said, "The family of RapidStream appliances extends the hardware platform options available to our customers, and provides a full range of scalable, high-throughput solutions for networks with next-generation performance requirements."
The RapidStream 8100 offers 300Mbps throughput on the VPN and 600Mbps on the firewall. The RapidStream 11000 VPN and firewall appliance offers 1.2Gbps throughput on the VPN and 2.0Gbps on the firewall. The appliances also offer Network Address Translation (NAT), Denial of Service (DoS) protection, Quality of Service (QoS) functions, and scalable performance through additional processors. Users can scale the appliances to a maximum of 600,000 concurrent firewall sessions and as many as 50,000 VPN tunnels. The appliances also ship with Check Point's Feature Pack-1 (FP-1), which includes Check Point's One-Click technology to simplify VPN deployment.
The appliances are available through RapidStream and Check Point resellers. The RapidStream 8100 (available in February) will sell for $35,000, and the RapidStream 11000 (available in March) will sell for $95,000. Lower-performance versions of RadidStream appliances are available immediately with prices ranging from $5000 to $15,000. For more information, visit RapidStream's Web site or call 1-866-727-4348.
