JSI Tip 5145. Windows XP could not find the phone book entry for a VPN connection?

When you use Network Connections to connect to a virtual private network (VPN), you receive:

Error 623

The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection.

If the VPN connection is configured to use a deleted dial-up connection, you will receive the above error.

To fix the problem:

1. Open Network Connections in Control Panel.

2. Right-click the VPN connection and press Properties.

3. Check the Dial another connection first box and select the appropriate dial-up connection, or create create one before performing this step.

4. If your VPN connection doesn't use dial-up, clear the Dial another connection first box.

5. Press OK.
