Managed hosting provider Datapipe this week said it has deployed the industry's first global Apache CloudStack platform. Datapipe’s Stratosphere Elastic Cloud Computing Platform is available in Silicon Valley, the New York Metro area, Northern Virginia, London, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Datapipe’s Stratosphere leverages Citrix CloudPlatform, an open source platform based on Apache CloudStack for building scalable Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud offerings. The platform is interoperable with Amazon Web Services, enabling customers to build and deploy cloud applications across both Datapipe Stratosphere and Amazon’s public cloud using EC2-compatible tools.

“With multiple availability zones distributed across North America, Europe and Asia, Datapipe's Stratosphere platform is the most widely deployed Apache CloudStack environment on the market,” said Peder Ulander, VP of Product Marketing at Citrix. “Datapipe's vision of providing high-performance, elastic cloud services that meet the needs of the global enterprise — while embracing Amazon AWS compatibility and open source innovation - is well aligned with our cloud efforts at Citrix. We're excited to be working with Datapipe on their leading global public cloud services.”

“Working with Citrix CloudPlatform and Apache CloudStack has fostered innovation within Datapipe,” said Ed Laczynski, Datapipe’s VP of Cloud Strategy. “Stratosphere has removed much of the confusion and difficulty typically associated with operating cloud platforms, to offer a user-friendly, easy-to-understand interface for deploying cloud services across the world.”
