A. Windows 2000 includes a tool DXDIAG.EXE which can check DirectXcompatibility on a machine including DirectSound, DirectDraw & DirectPlay..

Many screens have test buttons which test the various components of DirectX,for example testing DirectMusic plays various tunes to check you have therelevant required resources correctly configured (and its a cool tune) :-).
