A. Windows 2000 remembers where the service pack was installed fromand so when new components are added it can automatically get updated files fromthe service pack location without requiring the user to manually reinstall theservice pack.

If this location is changed or you wish to modify it perform the following:

  1. Start the registry editor (Regedit.exe)

  2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionSetup

  3. Double click ServicePackSourcePath

  4. Modify to the required path

  5. Click OK

  6. Close the registry editor
