Reliable Ransomware Recovery
You can’t prevent all ransomware attacks, so you need to protect your data so that it is easily recoverable.
November 14, 2020
Your data is under constant threat. Increasingly complex IT landscapes combined with a growing and evolving list of security risks has made the job of protecting your data more of a challenge. A quick Google search reveals the massive impact of ransomware in 2020.
Object storage may not immediately come to mind when thinking of an effective ransomware strategy, but it has many capabilities that allow for the protection of the most valuable organizational and user data. From top to bottom, the Hitachi Content Platform portfolio offers organizations of all sizes such a solution. Our Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) is one of the most secure object stores in the industry, and its write-once, read-many (WORM) versioning, replication, encryption and other capabilities complement any existing ransomware strategy.
When HCP ingests an object, it is stored as a WORM object, meaning it cannot be changed. Since the original object is WORM, the newly encrypted object would be stored as a separate version and the original object would still be accessible. HCP will mitigate the effects of ransomware and might even eliminate the need for traditional backup. When you consider the multimillion-dollar costs of recovery, lost productivity and deferred revenue, HCP would be considered a bargain.
Adding HCP Gateway to remote/branch offices and HCP Anywhere to user devices enables protection and easy recovery from ransomware attacks. Because the solution relies on regular synchronization of files instead of periodic backups, the risk of data loss is much lower and recovery points are much closer to the time of the attack.

The Power of the HCP Portfolio in the Fight Against Ransomware:
Maintain business continuity
Leverage HCP’s WORM and versioning capabilities to access the most recent version of any file prior to a ransomware attack.
Keep your business running smoothly
With HCP, content is continually checked throughout its retention period for integrity, with proactive data repair. Furthermore, deletions or accidental changes before a file retention period expires are prevented by object versioning protection, which also provides a history of how the data has changed over time.
Protect organizational data
In the event you decide to send data into the cloud, HCP’s encryption capabilities ensure it stays protected before, during and after its journey.
Keep your IT flexible AND secure
Limit data loss in the event of a ransomware attack by rolling back to the latest version of any file; don’t be limited to the version linked with the latest backup.
Protect beyond the data center
With HCP in the data center, HCP Gateway at remote and branch locations, and HCP Anywhere on users’ devices, all of your organizations are protected by the power of HCP.
