The day has arrived!
Today marks the general release of Microsoft's Docking Station for the Surface Pro 3 tablet/device/laptop replacer. According to Microsoft the port-heavy productivity dock can now be found in retail stores such as Microsoft Store, Best Buy, Staples, Tiger Direct, and others in both the U.S. and Canada.
You can also shop online at the Microsoft Store today and not be met with the usual preorder button, but instead the full service, add to cart and ship option.
There's no clue as to stocking levels, so if you really want to get your hands on one for this weekend, you might want to move fast (I know, I am). Microsoft's overestimation of stocking levels for the Surface RT unit led to a huge write-down, which still haunts the company to this day. So, I'm sure the company is a bit more careful now, which means it will be interesting to watch how quickly the Docking Station remains available for immediate shipping and purchase.
The Surface Pro 3 Docking Station gives you a full PC experience through a gigabit Ethernet port, a Mini DisplayPort for HD video up to a 4096x2304 resolution, and five USB ports. You can click-in and get to work, or click-out and go mobile.
