Microsoft is planning to release Windows 8.1 Update 1 early to MSDN subscribers as part of the kickoff for the Build developer's conference.
April 1, 2014
As we've known for a while, the next update to Windows 8, Windows 8.1 Update, will release to the masses during April 2014's Patch Tuesday (April 8, 2014). This update represents a change in the way Microsoft's Frankenstein monster works for those that prefer a mouse and keyboard over touchscreen capability.
Reporting from this year's Microsoft Build location in San Francisco, Mary Jo Foley makes mention that Microsoft is planning to release Windows 8.1 Update 1 early to MSDN subscribers as part of the kickoff for the developer's conference. Everyone else is still scheduled to receive the update on Patch Tuesday.
April 8, 2014 also marks the very last Patch Tuesday for Windows XP users, since the 13 year old operating system reaches end of days on that date.
