Microsoft Culling the List of Supported IE Versions by January 2016

To help make the world a safe place, to ease the pains of web development, and of course, to lighten Microsoft's burden of support, the company today has outlined plans for eliminating security updates for Internet Explorer versions earlier than IE9.

On January 12, 2016, Microsoft will only support Internet Explorer with the following configurations:

Of course, this list will expand a bit when Windows 9 releases, but you get the picture. The intent is to help eliminate much of the online danger associated with running old software.

This is a good move. If you're using older versions of Internet Explorer after January 2016, the software won't stop working, but as a good online citizen you should consider the two year span as time enough to migrate. You have been warned.
