Microsoft is making available a limited preview for an upcoming, Cloud-based cyber security service. The service will be part of the company's ever-evolving Microsoft System Center Advisor.
Microsoft System Center Advisor was launched in January 2012 and is provided as a service that allows companies to upload on-premise application server information to the Cloud for analysis. The product consists of a web service, an agent that must be installed on each server, and a gateway. Through this mechanism, data from Windows Server, Exchange Server, Lync Server, SharePoint server, System Center, and SQL Server can be uploaded and investigated with the intent of generating alerts for potential issues such as missing security patches or deviation from best practices. System Center Advisor is a free service.
The new preview, available only for those that sign-up, adds more security monitoring measures to System Center Advisor. It takes your uploaded data and analyzes for malicious activities, alerting about potential breaches or changes in the environment that need immediate investigation.
