Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit 5.0 Tech Preview Announced at RSA 2014

Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) is a set of tools and templates that administrators can run against a system that will locate potential vulnerabilities that might already exist. EMET attempts to spot new and undiscovered threats even before updates are available by diverting and blocking commonly known techniques vulnerabilities use against a system.

Announced at RSA 2014, EMET 5.0 Technical Preview is now available for download.

The Preview download is available here: Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit 5.0 Tech Preview

EMET 5.0 provides new functionality over the previous version, specifically:

  • Attack Surface Reduction

  • Export Address Table Filtering (EAF+) support

  • Enables the “Deep Hooks” mitigation setting by default

  • Addresses several application-compatibility enhancements

A full, deep-dive into each feature and enhancement is available to read through on the Security Research and Defense Blog: Announcing EMET 5.0 Technical Preview
