When you attempt to view the Properties of an object in a MMC (Microsoft Management Console) snap-in on Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000, the Properties dialog is NOT displayed.

Example:

If you right-click an event in Event Viewer to view its' Properties page, the Properties page is not displayed.

This behavior will occur if the ole32.dll library is not properly registered.

To resolve this issue:

1. Open a CMD.EXE windows.

2. Type regsvr32 /S %systemroot%system32ole32.dll and press Enter.

NOTE: On a Windows 2000 computer, you may receive the following warnings:

Close all property pages before closing Services.Close all property pages before closing Event Viewer.Close all property pages before closing MMC Snap-in Name.

and you have to use Task Manager to close a MMC snap-in.
