Microsoft Corporation this week demonstrated SQL Server for Windows CE, anew small footprint version of the company's client/server database serverthat runs on mobile and embedded devices using Windows CE.

"The new digital economy challenges businesses to work more closely withcustomers and to integrate data across all business processes," said DouglasLeland, SQL Server group product manager. "To succeed, businesses mustcreate new mobile applications that can be easily deployed in the field, onthe shop or warehouse floor, or on-site with the customer. SQL Server forWindows CE helps businesses accomplish these goals by allowing them to useproductivity appliances and create sophisticated applications."

SQL Server for Windows CE gives developers the power of SQL Server in thesmallest possible form factor, while further scaling the product to a widerrange of devices
