When you install Windows Server 2003 on a computer with two identical network adaptors, network adapter 1 may be associated with Local Area Connection 2 and network adapter 2 may be associated with Local Area Connection 1.

This behavior is caused by the difference in the hardware detection process between the GUI-mode Setup and Plug and Play.

To workaround this behavior, rename the Local Area Connections that are listed in Network Connections.
