A user requires administrative or Server Operator credentials in your Windows NT 4.0 domain in order to join their Windows 2000 workstation to the domain.

If you don't want to grant these privileges, you can perform either of the following:

- Prior to installing the Windows 2000 Professional workstation, use Server Manager to create a computer computer account. See Adding Windows NT Workstation, Advanced Server, to Domain.

- Grant the user Add Workstations to Domain right. See Capabilities of the "Add Workstations To Domain" Right.

NOTE: See Problems Administering a Windows NT4.0 Domain in Windows 2000.
