JSI Tip 10181. You receive time-out error messages when you use the Microsoft IPMI driver to flash hardware firmware in Windows Server 2003 R2?

When you use the Microsoft IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) driver to flash hardware firmware in Windows Server 2003 R2, you receive several time-out error messages in the System event log that are similar to:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: IPMIDRV
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1004

This behavior may occur when a large firmware image is used to flash the hardware device, causing the hardware to become inaccessible for an extended period of time. You may receive hundreds of time-out messages.

You can safely ignore these time-out messages, but NOT any more severe or fatal messages.
