Now that Windows 2000 Release Candidate 2 (RC2) has been seeded to technical beta sites, Microsoft has turned its attention to other customers, with the hope of getting this milestone release into the hands of as many people as possible.
MSDN Universal subscribers can now download Windows 2000 RC2 from the MSDN Subscriber Downloads Web site. Downloads include Windows 2000 Professional, Server, and Advanced Server (normal and checked/debug versions), Customer Support Diagnostics, and the Driver Development Kit. The RC2 Software Development Kit (SDK) will be available shortly.
For Corporation Preview Program (CPP) customers, the news is equally good: Microsoft will automatically ship RC2 to CPP customers who purchased the CPP directly from Microsoft, or to any customers that attended a live Windows 2000 event this year. All other CPP customers can call Microsoft toll-free at 1-888-219-1310, effective immediately, to place their orders for RC2 at no cost. The company says that shipping will take 3-4 weeks.
If you're interested in testing RC2, the easiest way to get the bits at this point is to join the CPP. Please visit the CPP Web site for details
