As reported previously in WinInfo, Microsoft will be making the Beta 3release of Windows 2000 available to one and all for $59. Well, details ofthis plan--dubbed the Corporate Preview Program--were revealed today whenMicrosoft emailed its Certified Solutions Providers with some newinformation.

The Windows 2000 Corporate Preview Program will include:

  • Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server Beta 3 software on CD.

  • Windows 2000 Evaluation and Deployment Kit, a two-CD set containing an interactive evaluation guide, white papers, demonstrations, supporting studies, and detailed technical information including a beta version of the Windows 2000 Resource Kit, and a Deployment Guide.

  • Windows 2000 Corporate Preview Guide, a manual with feature descriptions and step-by-step installation instructions.

  • Limited technical support from Windows 2000-trained Microsoft support engineers through a private newsgroup.

  • A subscription to Windows 2000 Beta Update, an email notification when new technical information is available on the Web.

In addition to offering the Windows 2000 Corporate Preview Program from itsWeb site, Microsoft will allow its Certified Solutions Providers to sell thepackage as well. Also, major hardware vendors such as Dell, IBM,Hewlett-Packard and Micron will be offering Windows 2000 Beta 3 on new PCsstarting next week. Users that purchase such a PC will receive a coupon goodfor upgrading to the final release when its made available in October
