It's Service Pack-o-rama over in Redmond as Microsoft today announced thefirst collection of bug fixes for its Visual Studio 6.0 developer suite, which was itself released only last month. Visual Studio 6.0 SP1 will beavailable toward the end of October and Microsoft is strongly recommendingthat developers install the service pack prior to releasing anyapplications created with the suite.

One has to wonder.

In its breakneck pace of constant product releases, Microsoft's qualityseems to have slipped dramatically recently. It's understandable for minorbug fixes to become available soon after a major product release--afterall, that's when the greatest number of people begin using it--but needingto release a full service pack this quickly suggests that someone isn'tdoing their job.
