Customization and Configuration for the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter in the Windows 8.1 App

I'm not exactly sure how many people are rushing out to grab the Microsoft branded Miracast adapter, but I've seen a few mention buying one. We many never know how popular these will be, considering it's late to market and it’s a bit higher priced than similar Miracast components. I'm still using the NetGear Push2TV PTV3000 and it works great for streaming my Surface Pro 3 screen to any TV in my house.

I'll probably pick up Microsoft's adapter eventually. Its only $10 more than the PTV3000 and I can always hook it up to another TV in the house. My whole family is outfitted with varying versions of Surface tablets, so they'd appreciate being able to take advantage of the Miracast capability. Paul has used it and found it easy to setup and configure.

However, if you want more configuration options, including customization capabilities, Microsoft has released an official app for the Wireless Display Adapter.

Here's what you can do with it:

  • Name the adapter

  • Change the TV or monitor language

  • Adjust the screen

  • Update the firmware

  • Set a password to lock the adapter

  • Change adapter pairing mode

You can get it in the Windows Store by searching for 'Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter' or using the following link:
