A. Diskpart and Disk Manager in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 have native VHD support and can be used to create and mount vhd files. Start Diskpart and use the following commands to create and attach to a VHD:
create vdisk file=c:test.vhd maximum=10000 type=expandableselect vdisk file=c:test.vhdattach vdisk
From Disk Manager, use the Create VHD and Attach VHD actions, shown here. You can also use the Detach VHD action to detach a VHD that is currently attached. Once a VHD is attached you can mount the partitions contained in it.
