Windows 10 November Update: Install Apps to SD Card
A new feature in the November update for Windows 10 allows you to install apps to external storage by default.
November 17, 2015
With the Windows 10 November update firmly in consumer hands, we can now identify new features delivered in the OS’s first major upgrade. Some are clearly evident, but some are seemingly tucked away.
One of those new features is the ability to install apps to an installed SD card (or alternate location than the built-in drive). This has been a component severely missing from Windows 10 – particularly for Surface owners who have installed SD cards to increase local file storage. The option to install files such as videos, documents, music, and pictures has been available, just not for installing apps.
To change the default location for the installation of new apps to a SD card…
Open Settings and go to System.
Now go to Storage and then locate the New apps will save to: option.
