Q. How can I stop my corporate users not running Enterprise editions being offered Windows 10 via Windows Update?
A. Microsoft have made Windows 10 available for free to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 for a year for non-Enterprise editions. If you have Windows 7/8.1 Pro deployments in your organization then Windows 10 will be offered to them. To suppress this offer set the registry key HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionWindowsUpdateOSUpgradeReservationsAllowed to 0.
This is enabled through the June update:
KB3050267 (Windows 8.1) - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=47360
KB3050265 (Windows 7) - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=47352
This can be configured using Group Policy (providing the update above is installed and use the updated WindowsUpdate.admx file by copying from where editing policy from) also by navigating to Computer Configuration - Policies - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - Windows Update. Double click Turn off the upgrade to the latest version of Windows through Windows Update and set to Enabled.
