Patch Tuesday: Windows 10 Reboot Loop Patch Gets a Fix

Just a few days ago we keyed you into both a problem and a workaround for an issue with Microsoft's very first Cumulative Update (CU) for Windows 10. At the time, the problem only affected a small set of users, but the issue bloomed larger in the days since.

As part of the August 2015 Patch Tuesday, Microsoft has released a fix. KB3081424 has now been turned over to KB3081436 and wraps six security updates into a batch of Windows 10 improvements. Because this is a CU, the previous, troublesome CU is not needed. This one is expected to install correctly and include all previously submitted fixes.

CU's are also smart enough to install only the new fixes included since you last updated – even though the full CU will be downloaded.

And, as has been the case, Microsoft is not releasing any information on what improvements are being delivered. But, considering the list of updated files numbers close to 100, it safe to assume that Windows 10 still needs a lot of work.
