Patch for crashing on Windows 10 after update KB3074681 released to Insiders

An update for Windows 10, KB3074683, has been pushed to Windows 10 Insiders to remedy the crashing issue that was being experienced after an update this past weekend.

Patch for crashing on Windows 10 after update KB3074681 released to Insiders

Windows 10 is scheduled for General Availability (GA) in less than two days and as the efforts ramp up towards that event some of the Windows team spent the weekend and today smashing bugs due to a faulty patch.

As we reported yesterday an update delivered to Windows 10 Insiders via Windows Update, KB3074681, was causing crashes in the Explorer process when performing certain actions in the Control Panel.

Although there was a work around for these crashes the Windows team went to work addressing the issue and just a short while ago released KB3074683 on Windows Update to replace the faulty patch KB3074681.

I have verified that both situations that were crashing my systems, uninstalling a program and disabling a network adapter, no longer cause these crashes in Explorer.
