Microsoft Tries to Clear Up Confusing Windows 10 Editions on WSUS Servers

Last week, Microsoft finally made available to WSUS servers the Windows 10 November Upgrade. But, initially, only the Pro version was available. Then, a few days later, the Enterprise and Education editions finally showed up.

But, after all editions were finally accessible, there was considerable confusion over what the WSUS servers actually contained. This was because the edition titles were all duplicates. For example, Windows 10 Pro would show up twice, sometimes three times, and patching administrators were left trying to figure out the differences between the duplicates.

Another update has now shown up that helps explain the differences in the Windows 10 offerings in the WSUS console. Included in this refresh you can now see differentiators such as volume licensed and retail versions, and even languages.

Much like Windows 10 itself, the WSUS availability has been a constant work in progress. They’ll get it right eventually, I guess.
