Having Fun with the Windows 10 Desktop

If you're looking for yet another cheap parlor trick to impress everyone at your next tech party, here's a couple.

The Windows 10 desktop is basically just a folder in the operating system that has special attributes. However, you can cause Windows 10 to create it like a standard folder, just by putting together a few keyboard keys.

Ctrl+Shift+0+8

This key combination turns the Windows 10 desktop into a uniform, directory listing. You can also use Ctrl+Mouse-wheel to resize the icons.

Ctrl+Shift+6

This key combination turns the Windows 10 desktop into a single column file listing, complete with date, size, type, etc.

To recover the Windows 10 desktop from either of these key combinations, just right-click on the desktop, choose View, and then select your icon size.
