Final Windows 10 Redstone 2 Build of 2016 Now Available as an ISO Download

Here is an early holiday gift for all of you Windows 10 Redstone 2, aka the Creators Update, testers around the world.

As the Chief Windows Insider, Dona Sarkar, told us last week - the ISO download of the final Windows 10 Redstone 2 testing build of 2016 is now available as a download from the Insider website.

If you head over to the Windows Insider ISO Download page, you can grab Windows 10 Build 14986 that was released to Fast Ring testers on 07 December and Slow Ring Insiders just seven days later on the 14th.

Since it will be 2 to 3 weeks before a new Insider build is likely to be released this is a perfect time to perform any clean or new installs/upgrades to the latest Creators Update test build and enroll that device back into the Fast Ring, or Slow if that is your preference, so that your device will be fully provisioned and ready for the first Fast Ring release of 2017.

By the way, keep these precautions from Microsoft in mind as you decide what devices you might run this build on:

- You'll need a third-party program to convert the ISO file into installable media—DVD burning software often includes this capability.

- Remember, trying out an early build like this can be risky. That's why we recommend that you don't install the preview on your primary home or business PC. Unexpected PC crashes could damage or even delete your files, so you should back up everything.

- If you want to stop using Windows 10 Insider Preview and return to your previous version of Windows, you'll need to reinstall your previous version from the recovery or installation media that came with your PC—typically a DVD. If you don't have recovery media, you might be able to create recovery media from a recovery partition on your PC using software provided by your PC manufacturer. You'll need to do this before you upgrade. Check the support section of your PC manufacturer's website for more info.

- After you install Windows 10 Insider Preview, you won’t be able to use the recovery partition on your PC to go back to your previous version of Windows.

So do you plan on putting the fresh ISO to use over the holiday period?

But, wait...there's probably more so be sure to follow me on Twitter and Google+.
