Anti-virus support with Windows 10

Q. Will my anti-virus solution work with Windows 10?

A. It depends. Many anti-virus solutions historically have used hooks into Windows that were not documented as it was the only way they could work. For Windows 10 Microsoft worked with the companies to add the required supported APIs into the OS so that the use of the unsupported hooks were no longer required which are also not available in Windows 10. This means if you are using the latest version of the anti-virus client you should be good with it running on Windows 10 however you should still check with the anti-virus vendor. If you are using an older version of the anti-virus client you will likely need to upgrade to the latest version before moving to Windows 10.
