SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer 9.0 Released

SolarWinds has announced a new update to their SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer (formerly Confio Ignite) that includes new analysis features for assessing the performance issues in databases.

The new version, called SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA) 9.0, has features such as storage resource visibility and correlation, as well as metric baselining and alerting. These new features will provide more insight into the problems a database may have, making it easier for the DBA in charge of the database to identify and implement solutions and get the database back to peak performance.

Application Issues or Database Issues?

With SolarWinds DPA 9.0, DBAs can utilize the new features to answer whether the problems stem from an application or from the database itself. The storage I/O analysis lets DBAs see how the storage load affects the database workload, as well as how issues such as latency and disk performance can contrubute to poor database response time. In addition to the new storage analysis, the updated version provides resource metric baselining and alerting, a feature that lets DBAs identify resource outliers while correlating with app response time to determine where a problem originates. These features are designed to make troubleshooting performance issues a faster and easier process for DBAs.

SolarWinds DPA 9.0 is available starting at $1,995 USD for SQL Server and Oracle Standard Edition, and $3,495 for Oracle Enterprise Edition, DB2, and Sybase. All database platforms are licensed by the instance and pricing includes the first year of maintenance. A free 14-day evaluation download is available on the SolarWinds website, and you can watch a short video overview of the SolarWinds DPA for more information.
