SCVMM Console Live Data Refresh Intervals

Q: Does the System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) console show live data?

A: When you implement SCVMM in your environment, SCVMM should be used for all activities, such as configuring hosts, configuring virtual machines (VMs), moving VMs, and everything else.

When SCVMM performs an activity, it creates a job that's tracked. Once the job is completed, the information and end-state will be reflected correctly in SCVMM. This is especially important when using network virtualization, as SCVMM must be up-to-date to ensure the routing and policies are correct.

If you perform changes from outside of SCVMM, then it will take some time for it to be updated, depending on the type of change that occured. This can range from 30 minutes to 2 minutes. The details of the refresh intervals are shown at the Microsoft website.
