A:You might already know that VMware vSphere 5's Storage DRS invokes its load-balancing algorithm every eight hours by default. This time period is aconfigurable value, although VMware doesn't recommend changing it. What you might not know is that this calculation is also invoked when any of thefollowing changes are detected by Storage DRS:

  • when a Storage DRS cluster configuration is updated

  • when a datastore enters maintenance mode

  • when a datastore is moved into a datastore cluster

  • when a datastore exceeds its space threshold

  • when the Run SDRS command is invoked
