Converting Hyper-V VMs to VMware

It seems a rarity these days, with the majority converting VMware to Hyper-V, but there are those that do want to do the opposite conversion – Hyper-V to VMware. While there are many conversion utilities available for performing the conversion from VMware to Hyper-V, there just aren't a huge number that allow the reverse, further highlighting the surging popularity of Microsoft's hypervisor.

But, for those wanting the option of converting VHDs to VMDKs, StarWind software does offer the ability to do this. The tool called the StarWind V2V Converter actually provides conversion both ways, allowing IT Pros to have both options.

Additionally, the V2V Converter allows the migration of any virtual machines from direct attached storage to share storage on a network.

The tool is free to download:  StarWind V2V Converter

The converter doesn't take a lot of work, just locate the source file, choose the location for the converted output, and click 'convert.' And, it's safe as it does a sector by sector copy and doesn't modify the source image.
