In tip 0141, we used the PasswordExpiryWarning Value Name in the Registry to alter the default 14 day password expiration notice.

You can use Group Policy to change when the password expiration notification is displayed.

Windows 2000

Use Prompt user to change password before expiration at Computer ConfigurationWindows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PoliciesSecurity Options.

Windows Server 2003

Use Interactive Logon: Prompt user to change password before expiration at Computer ConfigurationWindows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PoliciesSecurity Options.
