When you browse your local area network form Windows XP, Windows Explorer enumerates the Scheduled Tasks on the remote computer by default.

If you don't intend to remotely manage Scheduled Tasks from your workstation, you can speed up network browsing by preventing Windows Explorer from enumerating remote Scheduled Tasks:

1. Open a CMD.EXE window.

2. Type the following command and press Enter:

REG DELETE "HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerRemoteComputerNameSpace\{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}" /F
