If NLB is installed on a Windows 2000 DNS server, when you restart your server, or issue a ipconfig /registerdns command, both the virtual network adapter address and the dedicated network adapter address appear in DNS. This behavior occurs even if registration is turned off on the network adapter.

To prevent this behavior:

1. Open the DNS MMC (Microsoft Management Console).

2. Right-click the DNS server and press Properties.

3. Select the Interfaces tab.

4. Select Only from the following interfaces and type the address that you want to register in DNS and press Add, or Remove the address that you don't want.

5. Press Apply and OK.
